Rebekah Macaluso., Director of Nehemiah University Education Department works to provide a quality elementary education to special students.  The NXT Program is a unique blend of staff, parents and volunteers as a team to provide a quality education to some of our youth.
 

After School Programs

 Nehemiah After School Programs are directed by Andy Leakas.  Andy provides times of Bible education, team building activities, field trips and much prayer for the youth of our city.  You can join our volunteer teams to assist.
 

 

Nehemiah University Adult Courses

COMPREHENSIVE BIBLE

Two Bible Classes are currently being offered:

GENESIS 101 meets on Tuesdays from 3:45 - 5:00 PM and PRAYER: A CASE STUDY meets on Thursdays from 3:34 - 5:00 PM
 

COMPUTER 101

OBJECTIVE:  To familiarize each student with a computer and its connective parts.

DESCRIPTION:  General workings of the computer and the windows operating system.  The course will help you become comfortable using a computer.

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to go forward in learning more about computers and their software.

PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, you will be required to take the Keyboarding Class, which will be available either before or after your scheduled  Computer 101 Class.  You may request to be tested out of the Keyboarding Class if you feel you are proficient in this skill.
 

EXCEL CLASS 101

 OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with Microsoft Excel functions at the beginning level. 

DESCRIPTION:  Class sessions will involve 10 weeks of level 1 Excel.  This course will teach the skills and concepts necessary to create spreadsheets. 

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to produce spreadsheets with informational data. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take:

  • Computer 101
  • Keyboard Development
  • Word 101
 

EXCEL CLASS 102

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with Microsoft Excel functions at the second level. 

DESCRIPTION:  Class sessions will involve 10 weeks of intermediate level Excel.  This course will teach the skills and concepts necessary to begin using the charting and list-management capabilities of Excel. 

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to produce charts to graphically represent your worksheet data. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take: 

  • Computer 101
  • Keyboard Development
  • Word 101 & 102
  • Excel 101

COMPUTER HARDWARE 101 

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with the hardware functions of a computer. 

DESCRIPTION:  Class sessions will involve complete disassembly and reassembly of a computer several times during the course.  ALL components will be identified as well as functionally defined. 

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to accomplish successful upgrades, do troubleshooting in case of hardware failure, build computers even in the future, understand hardware requirements for different applications, introduce basic networking and examine peripheral components. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take: 

  • Computer 101 – Introduction to computers

COMPUTER PERIPHERALS 101 

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with the peripheral hardware of a computer. 

DESCRIPTION:  Class sessions will involve examination of various input and output devices, multimedia and Internet. 

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to design computer systems using peripheral input and output devices to accomplish specific tasks. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take: 

  • Computer 101 – Introduction to computers
  • Hardware 101

MICROSOFT POWER POINT® 101 

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with Microsoft PowerPoint® 

DESCRIPTION:  Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful tool to create professional looking presentations and slide shows. PowerPoint allows you to construct presentations from scratch or by using the easy to use wizard. Class sessions will involve 10 weeks of PowerPoint.   

FOCUS:  Successful completion of this course will enable you to construct presentations from scratch or by using the easy to use wizard. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take:

  • Word 101
  • Excel 101

MICROSOFT POWER POINT® 102 

OBJECTIVE:  This course is designed for students who are familiar with PowerPoint. 

DESCRIPTION:  This course teaches you how to design templates, create slides with special effects, run various slide shows, create presentations for the web, and broadcast and review presentations in your job. Class sessions will involve 10 weeks of PowerPoint.   

FOCUS:  Successful completion of this course will enable you to construct more complex presentations. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES:  To insure your success with this course, it is recommended that you first take:

  • Keyboarding
  • Word 101
  • Excel 101
  • Microsoft Power Point 101

WORD 101 

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with Microsoft Word functions at the beginning level. 

DESCRIPTION:  Class sessions will involve 10 weeks of level 1 Word.  This course will help you to develop skills in creating documents.   

FOCUS:  Successful completion of the course will enable you to produce documents to use in all facets of life.

WORD CLASS 102 

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to familiarize each student with Microsoft Word functions at the beginning level.

MICRO-BUSINESS 101

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this class is to coach students as they develop basic knowledge and practical skills to be able to start and run their own small business.

DESCRIPTION:  The course will consist of practical theory about start-up and management of business, Biblical principles related to business and finance, and a hands-on computer/internet laboratory to work with eBay.  The course will also provide useful reference materials and resources, case studies and ideas/suggestions for potential business and real-life testimonies of success.  The course will cover topics such as:

Product/Service Determination - Cost Analysis- Investment - Profit Margins - Accounting - Ownership Structures - Marketing - Inventory Control - Financing

FOCUS:  Successful completion of this course will enable you to understand key business concepts and terminology, write a Business Plan and buy and sell on eBay.
